Commodore’s Message

Tom Wright From the Commodore
of the Morro Bay Yacht Club
Welcome to 2025, where we are celebrating 69 years of boating in Morro Bay.

Ahoy, mariners and fellow members of the Morro Bay Yacht Club! As the Commodore, I extend a warm and hearty welcome to the community of boating enthusiasts. Nestled amidst the picturesque shores of Morro Bay, our club stands as a beacon of camaraderie, adventure, and a passion for all things nautical.

Whether you’re a sailor navigating the open waters of the Pacific or a novice dipping your toes into the world of boating, the Morro Bay Yacht Club welcomes you. Here, you’ll find a haven where expertise mingles with enthusiasm, where seasoned veterans share their wisdom with eager learners, and where the collective love for the sea binds us together like the sturdy ropes that secure our vessels.

The MBYC is not merely a gathering place; it’s a vibrant facility that supports a multitude of activities throughout the year. We support the Cal-Poly sailing team, host numerous regattas, have a learn to sail program and a large Junior contingent.

As Commodore, I am privileged to witness the spirit of sailing come alive within our members. Whether it’s the thrill of hoisting the sails and catching the wind, the camaraderie of sharing a meal amidst fellow seafarers, or the quiet contemplation as the sun dips below the horizon, our club provides a sanctuary for all who seek the solace and exhilaration of the sea.

Club membership is open to anyone with an interest in sailing or boating and a willingness to volunteer and be involved in the club. If interested, please stop by during Social Hour (6:00 PM on a Friday nights) and introduce yourself to one of our members. Or contact me at: mbyc.comm@gmail.com

Kind regards,
Tom Wright
